You could spend a full week submitting your shop to directories and most of them would send you nothing. Here's our honest ranking of what's worth the time, and what to skip.
Google Business Profile. Not optional. It carries the majority of local automotive search and it's free. If your time is limited, spend all of it here.
Apple Maps (Apple Business Connect). Every iPhone user asking for directions or searching Maps is using this, and shops routinely forget it exists. Free, quick, and a meaningful slice of your local market.
Bing Places. Smaller, but free and largely a copy-paste of your Google details. It also feeds some AI assistants and in-car navigation systems.
The Auto Network. Ours, so weigh that accordingly — free to be listed, free to claim, and quote requests come to you with no per-lead charge.
Yelp. Claim it whether or not you advertise. Free control of your own details and the ability to reply to reviews is worth the twenty minutes.
Facebook. Less about search, more about the customers who look you up before calling. Keep hours and phone accurate.
The long tail of general business directories. Individually they send almost no traffic. The argument for them is consistency of your business details across the web, which does have some value, but it's a much smaller effect than the tier one work and takes far longer.
Paid directory submission services that promise hundreds of listings. Most create low-quality entries on sites nobody visits, and inconsistent details across them can do more harm than the listings do good.
Anything requiring an annual contract for a listing. Legitimate directories let you claim for free.
Decide your exact business details once — the precise name, the address format, the phone number — and use them identically everywhere. Every inconsistency chips away at how confident search engines are about who you are.
The three in tier one cover most of the value. Everything after that is diminishing returns.
Consistency helps more than quantity. A few accurate listings beat many contradictory ones.
Claim and correct it if you can, or request removal. Stale addresses are a common source of confusion.
We'll check how your shop shows up on Google, in Maps and in AI assistants, and send you a plain-English report with what's costing you calls. It's free, and the fixes work whether you do them yourself or have us handle it.
