The 30-Photo Shot List

Photos are the most neglected ranking and trust input on a shop listing, and the gap between shops is enormous. Shops in the top three Maps results typically have 30 or more; most independents have fewer than ten. You can shoot this entire list in an hour with the phone in your pocket.

Exterior (5 photos)

• The building with your signage clearly readable The most useful photo you own — it's how a customer confirms they've arrived.
• The entrance from the customer's approach Shot from where they'd walk or drive in.
• The parking area Answers "where do I leave the car" before they have to ask.
• A wide shot showing the whole property Useful for anyone navigating by landmark.
• Your signage at night if you're open late Only if you actually are.

Customer areas (6 photos)

• The front desk or service counter
• The waiting area, tidy This one gets judged harder than you'd expect.
• Coffee, water or whatever you offer Small signal, disproportionate effect.
• The restroom, if it's clean Skip if it isn't. Fix it, then shoot it.
• Certifications and licences on the wall ASE, manufacturer training, BBB — proof of competence.
• Any warranty or guarantee signage

The work areas (9 photos)

• A wide shot of the bays Shows scale and capability.
• A car up on a lift
• Your alignment rack, if you have one Signals capability most shops don't advertise.
• Diagnostic equipment and scan tools Especially anything modern — it counters the assumption that independents can't handle newer vehicles.
• Specialist equipment for your niche Transmission jack, AC machine, tyre balancer, welding gear.
• A clean, organised tool area Organisation reads as competence.
• Parts storage or inventory
• Your fleet or service vehicles if you have them
• Anything unusual you own that competitors don't

People (5 photos)

• The owner, at the shop People want to know who they're trusting.
• Technicians working, faces visible
• The front desk person The voice on the phone becomes a face.
• A team photo
• Someone handing keys back to a customer Ask permission first.

The work itself (5 photos)

• A before and after of a repair Body work and detailing especially.
• A job in progress
• A clean engine bay after service
• A completed specialist job you're proud of
• Anything seasonal — AC service in summer, batteries in winter Reshoot these each season for fresh uploads.

Don't upload all 30 at once and never return. Upload about ten now, then add a few every month — recency is part of what Google reads as an active business.
